Institutional strengthening of the SBE via the physical reform of the Guy-Christian Library

Since July 10, 2005, the library of the SBE has borne the name of one of its founding associates, the French speleologist Guy-Christian Collet. This is a fitting tribute to the work of this important speleologist and archeologist, who passed away on October 29, 2004. The archives of the library include 21,305 items. A content search of the site of the Guy-Christian Collet library can narrow a search down for a specific research project by including more than one term in the relevant field. All of the information about a text is provided, and if digital contents are available, the hyperlink is also made available.

In 2011, the Agreement for Technical Cooperation between the Brazilian Speleological Society (SBE), Votorantim Cimentos (VC), and the Biosphere reserve of the Atlantic Coastal Rain Forest (RBMA) made it possible to provide necessary maintenance for the library, as well as completing a new system of cataloging, and the installation of new equipment in the library. This work constituted part of an on-going project.

The library is open to visitation and consultation by anyone who is interested. It is only necessary to arrange a time via the e-mail  secretaria@cavernas.org.br or telephone (+55) (19) 3296-5421. A map of how to arrive at the library can be found at http://www.cavernas.org.br/sociedade_sede.asp.
